Dr. Tony Jackson

Professional Biography

• Clinical psychologist and Co-Director of PranaMind.
• Clinical experience includes work with:
  • Children’s Hospital–Oakland
  • New Leaf Treatment Center
  • Oakland Community Counseling
  • Sunset Day Treatment Center, San Francisco
• Earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Health and Multicultural Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Berkeley–Alameda Campus (now Alliant University).

Academic and Teaching Experience

• Began teaching career as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the College of Notre Dame (now Notre Dame de Namur University).
• Served as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Skyline College.
• Achieved tenure as a Professor of Psychology at Skyline College.
• Coordinated the ASTEP (African-American Success Through Excellence and Persistence) program at Skyline College.
• Taught in a variety of undergraduate and graduate psychology programs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Program Development and Leadership

• Assisted in developing a handbook for culturally sensitive learning communities as part of the GROWTH (Genuine Rebuilding Opportunities With Technology and Humanity) curriculum.
• Contributed to the development of:
  • The Adewole Project
  • ASTEP Math Academy at Skyline College
• Developed and co-directed the first Brain Training and Peak Performance Project with Dr. Raymond Jones at Skyline College.

• Co-author of Psychology: Connections in Theory and Practice (4th Edition).
• Author of Black Male Violence in Perspective: Towards an Afrocentric Approach.
• Author of the DragonSlayer violence prevention and intervention curriculum.
